DS07 Reykjavik

DS07 Reykjavik Highlights

This event saw the opening of the first ethanol fuel station in Iceland and a Toyota Prius hybrid converted to the first plug-in hybrid in the Nordic countries.

The Main Conclusions Of This Inaugural Event Were:

  • Electricity will be the no.1 technological driver of change in automotive efficiency in the next 3-5 years
  • Use of biofuels will increase, but sustainability production standards and cellulosic technology are needed if it is to gain real foothold globally.
  • Energy efficiency of ICE vehicles will increase with new technologies including start-stop systems, smaller turbocharged engines, and lighter building materials
  • Hydrogen & Fuel Cells have potential, but most agree that the technology will not become commercially available until 10-20 years from now.
